Top Dog Site exists to help readers make informed decisions about dogs and dog ownership. Search visibility and advertising revenue matter to the business, but neither is a valid reason to publish a page that does not help a reader.

Our standards

We aim for content that is:

• independently written;
• clear about uncertainty;
• useful in real ownership decisions;
• sourced from appropriate organizations and research;
• honest about trade-offs and disadvantages;
• updated when meaningful facts change.

Breed information

Breed descriptions refer to population tendencies and breed purposes. They do not predict the behavior, health or suitability of every individual dog. Genetics, socialization, training, health, environment and previous experience all matter.

Health information

Veterinary claims require stronger evidence than lifestyle claims. We prefer veterinary universities, peer-reviewed studies, recognized veterinary organizations, breed-health programs and other primary or specialist sources. Health content is general information and not veterinary diagnosis.

Product content

We distinguish hands-on testing from research-based evaluation. We do not use phrases such as "we tested" or "our veterinarian recommends" unless the underlying activity actually occurred and is documented.

Artificial intelligence

AI tools may assist with research organization, outlines, editing, structured data and quality control. AI must not be used to fabricate facts, experience, credentials, testing or quotations. Material must be reviewed before publication.

Advertising and affiliate relationships

Ads and affiliate relationships are separated from editorial conclusions. Commercial compensation does not guarantee inclusion or positive coverage.
